      Hi Everyone,

Almost a year ago I purchased a new 3100H which now has about 25-hours of run-time. It has not worked very hard yet and with the front loader loaded with stone, the rear of the tractor is too light.

Does anyone have suggestions on what I could to to weigh the rear down. I could use wheel weights, however, I don’t want to carry this weight all the time due to the soft ground I have at my property. I would therefore prefer a water tank or some sort of box I could attached to the 3-point hitch on the rear and lift as needed.

      Thanks for the good forum.

      Best regards,

      Gordon

Hi Gordon and welcome to our forum!

I have a 3100 and I’ve water in my rear tires for over a year and it was a very good decision. I highly recommend this. Before, I always had to work with a rear weight when working with the front loader. Now it is no longer necessary.

        Best regards

        Alexander

          Hi Alexander,

Thank you for your warm welcome.

I will consider water. The main concern I have in carrying the weight all the time is the very soft terrain I have in some areas and also my lawn which is also soft that I need to cross in some areas. The tractor itself is quite heavy so I’m careful when travelling on my lawn. I have a very small property (2-achres), half of which are trees. The trees are about 2-meters apart making it quite a challenge to get between them (especially with a front loader) so I have limited ‘roadway’ with some of this path being very soft.

Either way, I still need some rear weight for when I carry heavy front loads.

          Thank again.

          Best Regards,

          Gordon

I’m sorry, but I can’t help you. Although I faced a very similar situation. Can you suggest a good repair service?

That is awesome; how much did you pay for it? I plan to buy a new tractor at my farm, but I don’t know which tractor to choose. I wish I could buy a new John Deers tractor from https://www.machinerydealer.co.uk/compact-tractors-for-sale/, but it cost too much, and I have to take a credit if I want to buy it. I found other good tractors on this website, but I am unsure what to choose. I am also thinking of buying a used John Deers tractor which I found on this website some weeks ago. It has only five hundred hours on board.

So, finally I have a weight at the rear. This is filled with concrete and heavey rocks to get the maximum weight from this barrel. The working liquid capacity is 90-litres (now filled to capacity) and is an old hoover/vaccuum cleaner dust holder – I think this is likely from an industrial machine. I estimate the weight to be closer to 200kg but I’m not sure – certainly over 150kg.

Now I can lift with the front loader without worrying about that being too heavy.

                Tractor rear counter-weight
